Your Guide to VA Loans | Get Your Dream Home Fast

How to Cut Through The Red Tape and Get Your Dream Home Fast

How to Cut Through The Red Tape and Get Your Dream Home Fast

In 1944, Congress enacted the GI Bill to thank the men and women who served in the armed forces for their hard work and dedication. One of the most valuable benefits included in the bill was the VA Loan. But bureaucracy and stringent procedures have made applying and qualifying for these loans complicated and unwieldy. Your Guide to VA Loans is the first book to guide veterans through the process. Readers will discover how to determine whether VA loans are right for them, how to apply, and how to deal with common problems that arise. Mortgage expert and author David Reed has more than 30 years of experience helping buyers navigate complicated loan processes. Here he offers advice on topics such as:

* selecting the right VA lender

* finding an agent in a town where there are few veterans

* getting the best interest rate

* refinancing VA loans

* getting advice on VA loans while on active duty

Complete with a guide to regional resource centers, sample loan applications, payment tables and a glossary of terms, this seminal guide will help all veterans fully enjoy the benefits they need and so richly deserve.

Quick Answers to Over 250 Critical Questions About Your Home Loan

Quick Answers to Over 250 Critical Questions About Your Home Loan

Product Description

Reed, an experienced loan officer and columnist for Realty Times, offers an easy-to-digest look at the world of mortgages. With definitions of the various types of loans, explanations of credit scores and a discussion of how the Internet has changed the real estate business, the book is a handy reference for anyone involved in real estate transactions-though best for beginners who want a map to navigate their way through the complexities of mortgages.

The book explains such basic issues as the difference between renting and buying, which individuals at a bank actually approve loans and how to figure out debt ratio. More complex topics, like construction loans and getting online approvals, are also included.

Reed writes in a straightforward, conversational tone and offers appropriate cautions, such as not to reveal confidential information online. While much of this information is available elsewhere, Reed serves up useful advice that is rarely discussed. For example, there is a "rescission" period for refinanced mortgages that gives people a three-day grace period to get out of the mortgage agreement with no penalties; he also discusses various types of appraisals. While there are books that cover this information in more depth, the q&a format makes this a worthwhile addition to the real estate shelves.

The Complete Guide to Success as a Mortgage Broker

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Success as a Mortgage Broker

Product Review

Like me, you may find this book extremely helpful even if you're not considering a career as a mortgage broker. Here's why. I have a mortgage, I just refinanced my mortgage, and I'm sure someday I'll buy a new house and need another mortgage. This book explains in clear and easy-to-understand language the "terms" your real estate agent, mortgage broker, or banker use when presenting financing options to you.

Think Economics 101 crossed with a primer on banking and personal finance. Everything from "What's in a credit report" to "Who the heck is Freddie Mac" is discussed and explained. There are lots of extras in this book for the average reader. There's an "Interest and Style" personality test in Chapter 4 that I found spot on and fun to take. There's even a chapter on PDAs, cell phones, and a great explanation on just what a "Bluetooth" is and why I should look for that feature on my next laptop.

if I ever decide to start a small business, this book is packed with helpful hints and information about developing a business plan, time management, and marketing. Add this book to your library; it will assist you in being successful in the increasingly complicated business of everyday life.

Mortgage Confidential by David Reed

Mortgage Confidential

Product Description

Author David Reed has done it again! I read his first book, Mortgages 101 and like it so much that I bought this one without any deliberation. I have been reading his column in Realty Times for years, and always enjoyed them.

In a clear, concise, easy to read manner, the author has set forth in simple and easy to understand terms the truth about mortgages and mortgage lending. Everything is explained, such as where mortgage money comes from, to how Annual Percentage Rate is determined to shopping for a loan and (hopefully) avoiding some "junk" fees. Also included is the commonly misunderstood diferrences between a Bank, a Mortgage Bank, and a Mortgage Broker.

All this ads up to a great book to read for the consumer who is shopping for a mortgage loan. Details too numerous to explain here, but you won't regret buying this book, if you are eithar purchasing a home or refinancing. The "confidential" part of the title is the stuff Loan Agents know, and he has made it available to the reader.

Mortgages For Dummies, 2nd Edition

Mortgages For Dummies, 2nd Edition

Product Description

"Mortgages For Dummies" begins by asking the reader to evaluate how large of a mortgage he/she can afford. Tyson and Brown discuss budgeting, which is something many people will already know. The authors point out that in addition to covering your basic expenses, such as food and water, you must also allow for your other financial goals, such as retirement planning. Only through budgeting will you get a handle on how large of a mortgage you really can afford. Obviously, you don't want to wind up with mortgage payments you can't pay!

Buying a home is the biggest financial deal many people will ever make. If you're about to buy your first home it pays to learn the ins-and-outs of mortgages. Structuring your mortgage properly can save you thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the mortgage. "Mortgages For Dummies" explains how mortgages work and how to get a great deal on your mortgage.

For many of us, the single biggest financial transaction is buying a house. Even more significant than the hefty down payment we fork over is the 15- to 30-year mortgage that needs feeding every month. If you have this much at stake, a little knowledge can go a long way, which is where Eric Tyson and Ray Brown come in. In Mortgages for Dummies, Tyson and Brown (who also wrote Home Buying for Dummies and House Selling for Dummies) provide a comprehensive introduction for anyone who is contemplating a mortgage.

Robert J. Bruss
There are many excellent "how to get a mortgage" books, but this one is vastly different, because it reveals the insider secrets even many mortgage professionals don't know. Warren reveals what really goes on in the home-loan business to get mortgages approved, and dhow borrowers can avoid becoming victims of their lenders.
